St Neots TimeBank to close its doors.

St Neots TimeBank sadly will have to close its door on the 30th of June 2022. In a newsletter, Georgina, the coordinator and founder of the project, explained why the project, after so many years, had to close up.

I have advertised several times for a replacement with no response. After ten years and two months of successfully helping residents of St Neots to live better lives – knowing help was available for them at the end of a phone. It’s very emotional and a sad day! We’ve had 221 members ready and willing to offer help… being a phone friend to Gardening and more. We’ve achieved success and recognition at the top. As founder and coordinator, I have many happy memories and have made many more friends. It’s been so heartwarming and pleasing to know that by contacting … it has ended the loneliness and frustration of so many. It has given me a great deal of pleasure helped by so many of you. What we have achieved has at times thought to be impossible – but our members have gone the extra mile and achieved the help needed. It has shown me that the trauma and distress that people can suffer can so easily be changed by simply helping each other. All it takes is a leader to link the helper to the needy. Throughout Covid we continued making lives less stressful – being a phone friend, getting shopping and prescriptions – just hearing a friend’s voice can make so much difference to a lonely person. Its success has been my reward.

Hunts Forum wants to wish Georgina the warmest of thanks for her hard work, St Neots TimeBank made a big difference in the town, and we all wish her luck in her future endeavours.
