Double Success for Hunts Forum at the NAVCA Awards 2020

On 4 December 2020 the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) held its annual Heart of the Community Awards. We are delighted to announce that Hunts Forum won in the Liaison Award category for its Recognised Organisation project, which brought community organisations together from across Huntingdonshire to support people in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Find out more about our Recognised Organisations here.

All of us at Hunts Forum would like to say a massive well done to our Deputy CEO, Kathryn Shepherdson, who had the unenvious task of starting in her post just as the pandemic hit. Kathryn was instrumental in setting up and leading the Recognised Organisations project, making a huge positive impact to the work of Hunts Forum and the wider voluntary sector in this most challenging of years.

Kathryn was also Highly Commended in NAVCA’s Rising Star Leadership Award for demonstrating exceptional leadership in the past year.

Local Infrastructure Support: the Beating Heart of the Voluntary Sector

#HeartOfOurCommunity campaign highlights the work of Hunts Forum and its peers across the UK.

Hunts Forum and other local infrastructure organisations like us support voluntary and community organisations in all the good work they do. We provide training and advice, make introductions, campaign on their behalf and do whatever it takes to help our member organisations thrive. It’s often during the more challenging times that our members turn to us for help, and this has certainly been true during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been our privilege to serve the voluntary and community organisations – and the people – of Huntingdonshire throughout these challenging times.

We’re very grateful to our national body NAVCA for inviting us to participate in this video that celebrates the work of infrastructure organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here to find out more, or help spread the word via the #HeartOfOurCommunity campaign on Twitter.
